Funds - French financing programmes

 

Investiments for the Future

The "Investments for the Future" programme, under the national Great Loan, will help with an overall budget of € 54 billions five specific domains :

  • Higher education and vocational training (€ 11 billions)
  • Research (€ 7,9 billions)
  • Industries and SMEs (€ 6,5 billions)
  • Sustainable development (€ 5,1 billions)
  • Digital technologies and economy (€ 4,5 billions)

This programme will help industrial research and experimental development projects gathering at least two entities, the leader being a company.

 

The Single Interdepartemental Funds

These funds finance collaborative research projects labellised by competitiveness clusters. Its budget for the 2009-2011 period is around € 600 millions. One or two calls for proposals are opened each year. Each partnership must gather at least two companies and a laboratory or a public research organism or a training organism. Financings can come up as subsidies at a level of 45% of labellised SMEs budget, 30% of company localised in the geographical area of a competitiveness cluster, and up to 40% of research laboratory budget.

 

The National Research Agency

The French National Research Agency is an administrative department that funds research projects gathering mostly public research laboratories. Calls for proposals are opened once a year with specific topics. Grants can range from € 500 millions to € 3 billions. Funds can be granted also to SMEs, up to 45% of their budget.
